The Master Dolpopa - Master Menlha Phuntsok Gurung
Born on 23rd May 1958, Menlha hails from Chharkha Village. At the age of 7 he entered Tarzong Cheoling Nyingma Monastery in Dolpo. In 1978 he moved to India to study at the prestigious Tibetan Bon Academy of Philosophy & Doctrine. He obtained a doctorate degree called Geshe from His Holiness XIVth Dalai Master in 1989.
Master served as Dharma Instructor at Nagyur Dongak Choeling Monastery in Pharping, Kathmandu, Nepal. In 1994 he was appointed member of Monastery Management and Development Committee – a Government entity. In 1996 Master lead Sachen Monastery construction and Kathok Monastery restoration. In November of 1996 he established Dolpo Buddha Service Centre (DBSC) in Dolpa.
He is presently working on research, documentation and publication of various books, education materials to protect and promote high Himalayan culture, religion and ancient manuscripts.
